2026 Aeroplane Shuttlecock CBA Open

We're excited to announce the 2026 Aeroplane Shuttlecock CBA Open is officially underway!

Competition includes Open, B, C, D, MS, WS, MD, WD, XD categories, plus 40+ Senior divisions and CBA Students Only U13—with all junior and senior games scheduled for Sunday.

Schedule and Events

  • Be prepared for rollover of events
    Friday Sept 11th: 5PM Start
    - MS (All), Open and B main bracket will finish quarterfinals, C and D main bracket will finish
    - All consolation will finish
    - WS (All), Open bracket will finish quarterfinals, B, C, and D will all finish

  • Saturday Sept 12th: 8AM Start
    - Open MS - Semifinals and Finals
    - MS B - Semifinals and Finals
    - MD (All)
    - WD (All)

  • Sunday Sept 13th: 8:30AM Start
    - Open WS - Semifinals and Finals
    - XD (All)
    - All Senior Events
    - All U13 Junior Events

  • Facility will open for participating athletes at 2pm on Friday, 7am on Saturday and Sunday

  • All participants will receive discounted drop-in ($10 drop-in) during the 2 weeks after the registration deadline until the tournament start date

  1. - “Open” events will not have consolation bracket
    - All other events will be “First-Match Consolation” (Guaranteed 2 matches)
    - Open MS, MS B, MS C, MS D
    - Open WS, WS B, WS C, WS D

    - Open WD, WD B, WD C, WD D
    - Open XD, XD B, XD C, XD D
    - 40+ Men’s Doubles, 40+ Women’s Doubles, 40+ Mixed Doubles
    - CBA Members Only U13 Junior Singles, U13 Junior Doubles
    THE CBA TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO COMBINE OR CANCEL EVENTS AS NEEDED DUE TO THE NUMBER OF REGISTRANTS

  2. SKILL LEVEL GUIDE

Open - International/Highly ranked junior (U17 and up) and adult players, high experience/success in tournaments around the country
- Players who are sponsored or have current international experience are only limited to Open events (Please email Jung Park (jcpy6122@gmail.com) for exemption request)

B - Highly experienced tournament player, with moderate success in regional and local tournaments
- Open level players are able to partner with C level players

C - Intermediate to advanced club player, with moderate experience in local tournaments
- B level players are able to partner with D level players

D - Beginner/Rookie, little to no experience in tournaments
- Winners of 2025 CBA Open D level main bracket must play C level

Senior Events - All participants must be at least 40 years of age at the beginning of the tournament

CBA Members Only U13 Junior Events - All participants must be an active member of the CBA classes (All locations)

*CBA Tournament Committee will use previous CBA tournament results, as well as results in the past year to determine seeding and entries”
*Tournament Committee will strictly monitor entries*

THE CBA TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE HAS THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE EVENT LEVEL OF THE PLAYER AFTER RESEARCH IF THE COMMITTEE DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE PLAYER’S ENTRY
If change is needed, the committee will email a notice to the player

  1. The CBA Tournament Committee has the right to change the skill level of the player after research if the committee does not agree with the player’s proposed skill level.

    • A level player signing up for B, B level player signing up for C

    • If change is needed, the committee will email a notice to the player

  1. Skill level

    • A - National Level Player / Frequent Tournament Player (Usually places high in tournaments

    • B - Experienced Tournament Player / Advanced Club Player

    • C - Beginner / Intermediate Club Player

Caps & Seeding

  1. In the circumstance that more entries are received than can be accommodated in the available court hours, events can be capped, and registrations will be accepted on a “first-come, first-serve” basis

  2. The seedings will be based on the most recent USAB Rankings, recent local tournament results, and then a randomized draw 

  3. The player registration list and bracket will be released on within a week of the tournament date to allow time to create pairings for those that have requested partners and to update bracket based on seeding. 

Withdrawals

  1. No refunds will be given after the start of the tournament date. Refunds are available only up to 50% of the registration if done before the tournament start date. Please contact Fung Foo for any extenuating circumstances. 

  2. Withdrawals made after the tournament start date will be considered a walkover (WI)

  3. Tournament or Event cancellation:

  4. If there is a reason for event cancellation or reschedule due to factors outside of the control of CBA (i.e. bad weather, lack of overall entries, etc.), then a reschedule will be attempted first, after which a refund will be considered

Conditions of Play

  • - Aeroplane EG1130 black label tournament-grade shuttles will be used throughout the tournament
    - Consolation draws will be held except for events that will be changed to round-robin or pools depending on the entry size
    - All main draw matches except for Junior events will be best of 3 games to Badminton World Federation (BWF) 21-points with rally-point scoring system
    - There will not be a consolation bracket for Open level matches
    - B, C, D, and Senior consolation draw matches will be 1 set to 31, switching sides at 16
    - U13 Junior event main draw matches will be best of 3 games, first to 15 per game
    - U13 Junior consolation matches will be 1 set to 21
    - A player not ready to play in 10 minutes after his/her match is called may be defaulted
    - Each player in a doubles event must submit separate entry forms
    - For events with not enough entries, events will be combined with the nearest group category, will be made unisex, or canceled. If canceled, refunds will be provided
    - Acceptable badminton clothing must be worn during play
    - Non-marking shoes are required to play on the courts
    - CBA Management may deny entries to the tournament
    *THE CBA TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE ANY OF THE ABOVE CONDITIONS*

Awards

  • Prize Pool:$10,000
    - All Open level main draws will have cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ($8,500)
    - All B-level main draws prizes will have cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ($1,500)
    - All C-level main draw prizes are non-cash prizes
    - All D-level main draw prizes are non-cash prizes
    - All senior events main draw prizes are non-cash prizes
    - All junior events main draw prizes are non-cash prizes

    CASH PRIZE DISTRIBUTION WILL BE DETERMINED BASED ON NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER EVENT
